Waterway Top-Load filter lock ring with tab

This lock ring holds the cover in place on Waterway Top-Load and In-Line filters. The lock ring holds down the filter cover, against the water pressure inside the filter.

The lock ring has a spring-loaded grey tab, which drops into a notch on the filter housing when the ring has been sufficiently tightened. The main purpose of this tab is to discourage overtightening, and you have to lift it before you can unscrew the ring. A version of this lock ring without the tab is also available.
