Which wet end seal for my pump, and how do I replace it?

The wet end seal or shaft seal, as the name suggests, provides a waterproof seal between the hydraulic and electrical parts of a spa pump. It is therefore placed between the shaft and the pump body to prevent any leaks.

A leak from the wet end can easily be mistaken for a leak from a union or a gasket on the pump body. You need to figure out the exact origin of the leak to determine the cause. If water is leaking from the back of the pump body, your wet end is likely defective.
